Middle Georgia voters hear from Bottoms as Jackson campaign takes aim with limo stunt
MACON, Ga. (WPGA) - Democratic gubernatorial candidate Keisha Lance Bottoms met with local voters at the “Middle Georgia Decides” forum, held at the Mill Hill Community Arts Center.
The former Atlanta mayor spoke at the event, which organizers said was intended to bring candidates to a part of the state that is often overlooked.
“Too often we find these events happening in Atlanta, Savannah, Columbus, but not too much in Middle Georgia, and this event is trying to change that. We want people to come out and speak to the community,” said Nik Dalton, Middle Georgia Matters spokesperson.
Bottoms’ opponent, Republican Rick Jackson, did not attend the forum in person.
His campaign sent a limousine to the event, dubbed the “Keisha Lance Bottoms Luxury Car Service.”
The Jackson campaign says that as Atlanta mayor, Bottoms used $11,000 in taxpayer dollars for limo rides during her first five months in office.
