MACON, Ga. (WPGA) - Bibb County Schools, the Tubman Museum and the Bibb County Education Foundation are teaming up to collect 1,500 beds for children in need.

People can purchase and deliver a new bed or bed accessories to the Tubman Museum. Monetary donations are also being accepted.

“Think about tonight as you lay yourself down in your bed and just imagine if everybody else had that same privilege, especially our children, and I hope that causes you to reach into your hearts, reach into your pockets, your resources, and even ask other people,” said Dr. Dan Sims, superintendent of the Bibb County School District.

Donors can also visit Macon Bed and Mattress and buy a “One Bed-One Dream” certificate.

The campaign runs through Oct. 3. A community distribution and celebration is scheduled for Oct. 11.

Organizers are asking for new items only. You can donate through the Bibb County Education Foundation’s website here.
