ATLANTA (WANF/Gray News) - A college professor was found dead and a school coach is still missing after an empty boat was found circling Lake Oconee, according to officials.

Officials said Gary Jones, a teacher and track coach at Westminster School and his fiancée, Joycelyn Wilson, a math professor at Spelman College, were out on their boat last weekend.

When they went missing, their boat was found driving in circles with no one aboard.

Days later, Wilson’s body was recovered, but Jones did not return.

They found Jones' shoes floating in the water 200 yards from where they found Wilson’s body, but still have not found Jones.

Law enforcement, the Department of Natural Resources and volunteers who know the couple have been out on the water trying to find Jones for over a week.

Putnam County Sheriff Howard Sills said there’s an ‘infinite number’ of possibilities that could have happened.

As of now, authorities said they’re looking into possible foul play, which is standard protocol in these cases.
