Suspects arrested in connection with the shooting of Florida State football player
HAVANA, Fla. (WCTV/Gray News) - Police say four arrests have been made in connection with the shooting death of Florida State University football player Ethan Pritchard.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement announced Caron Miller, Jayden Bodison, Germany Atkins, and a juvenile suspect were arrested in connection with the shooting.
Miller, Bodison and the juvenile are charged with attempted murder and shooting into an occupied vehicle.
Atkins is charged with violating his probation.
Pritchard was shot two weeks ago during the evening hours of August 31 near the Havana Heights Apartments.
FDLE agents said that Pritchard had attended a family cookout in Havana and was driving two family members, an adult and a three-year-old child, home when he was “ambushed.”
“Ethan was not, I say, not doing anything wrong in that area,” Gadsden County Sheriff Morris Young said.
“They were in the wrong place at the wrong time,” Keith Wilmer with FDLE said.
Following the shooting, Pritchard was taken to the intensive care unit at a local hospital in critical but stable condition.
Three of the young men were taken into custody after law enforcement served multiple simultaneous warrants early Wednesday morning, according to the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the sheriff, the fourth suspect turned himself in at the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday afternoon.
The same suspects are believed to be involved in another shooting in Havana just five days prior, per Sheriff Young.
The Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office, Leon County Sheriff’s Office and Florida Department of Law Enforcement were all involved in bringing to suspects into custody.
According to the FSU Athletics page, Pritchard, from Sanford, FL, is a true freshman linebacker on the FSU football team.
